Clinical nutrition is the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of chronic diseases and conditions leveraging the power of nutrition. It’s the study of how food can be used to improve patient outcomes at all stages of their health and medical journey.

  • Nutritionists work in health care settings ranging from large medical centers to community clinics and private practices.
  • Food and nutrition management is needed in industry settings, where nutritionists help organizations meet food regulation standards. 
  • Public Health nutritionists work in community settings such as government or schools, providing nutrition assessments for large populations and developing interventions to change policy and improve nutrition.
  • Nutritionists often work as faculty in universities and colleges, where they teach and perform research.
  • The media is employing nutritionists to keep pace with increasing public interest in food and nutrition. Nutritionists with strong communication skills help newspapers, magazines, and broadcast media digest and publish the latest nutrition research.

Programs Offered

Bachelor of Nutrition and Dietetics (Honours)

Duration 4 years including a 6-month internship
Eligibility
  • The candidate must have passed the Senior Secondary Examination (10+2) or its equivalent from a recognized board with Physics, Chemistry, Biology, and English as compulsory subjects, securing a minimum of 50% aggregate marks.
  • Admission shall be granted based on merit obtained in the Senior Secondary (10+2) examination, in accordance with the applicable admission guidelines.

Master of Nutrition and Dietetics

Duration 2 years including a 3-month internship
Eligibility
  • The candidate must have completed a Bachelor in Nutrition and Dietetics (Honours) / B.Sc. Nutrition and Dietetics (Honours) / B.Sc. Food and Nutrition, or any other equivalent qualification in regular mode from a recognized university.
  • Admission shall be based on the entrance examination conducted in accordance with the prevailing admission regulations.
  • As per the National Commission for Allied and Healthcare Professions (NCAHP) regulations, candidates applying for the postgraduate programme must possess valid NCAHP registration.

Eligibility
  • The candidate must have successfully completed an M.Sc. in Nutrition and Dietetics / M.Sc. in Food and Nutrition from a recognized university with a minimum of 55% aggregate marks (or as prescribed by the applicable regulatory authority).
  • Admission shall be granted on the basis of the entrance examination conducted, in accordance with the prevailing admission regulations.
